Climate Action Towns
Alness & Invergordon

In 2021 the Scottish Government commissioned Architecture Design Scotland to work with communities across the country which were selected as Climate Action Towns. In Highland, two neighbouring communities were selected, Alness and Invergordon.

The initiative works with seven towns across Scotland to create both community climate action through a placebased approach and to inform learning of what might be outline learning for inclusive climate action at a town scale. The hope is that this learning will inform and be applied across Scotland and beyond.

Climate Action Towns looks to :

  • bring about conversations on climate adaptation

  • take a place based approach

  • encourage real change in communities with historically limited action on climate change

The initiative is guided by the eight principles of a carbon conscious place. You can find out more abou this by clicking the link below.

In Alness and Invergordon the Hub have been working in partnership with Architecture Design Scotland on the programme alongside Highland Council, Highland Adapts and the wonderful community groups and businesses located in the towns of Alness and Invergordon.
