Dissertation Request - Calling all Hub members!

Here at the Highlands and Islands Climate Hub, we’ve been contacted by a student from the University of Edinburgh who asked us to circulate the below survey to support their dissertation project which explores ‘participation in Scotland’s climate action network’. The survey aims to gather Hub members perceptions of, and experience with us. This information will be gathered anonymously and used to help create the end dissertation.

The output format will be decided collectively based on feedback received from you, other survey participants, and research partners.

Your experience is important, and input would be greatly appreciated. Please submit your responses by 30 June.

Survey logistics:

The survey is intended to take approximately 10 minutes to complete. Its first page describes this project, followed by a second page requesting your consent to participate before you can answer the questions. The questions cover topics related to your profile, role, activities, and interactions as a hub member. You are also invited to share hopes for the future and any other feedback on your experience with participation.

Data protection:

Your responses and participation will be anonymous, and any data collected will be securely stored on University of Edinburgh servers and permanently deleted after project completion on 3rd August.

All questions are considered optional, and you have the right to stop the survey or withdraw from this research at any time without giving a reason. The survey results will be analysed by the researcher only.

About the researcher:

Sarah Manning is a masters student studying Environment and Development at the University of Edinburgh. She is very interested in community participation in climate decision-making and is keen to learn more about your experiences as (prospective) members of Scotland's climate action hubs for her dissertation research. If you have any questions about her background, the survey, or this project more broadly, please email Sarah at any time at: s.c.manning@sms.ed.ac.uk.
