Coastal Management Acceptability in Golspie

Marion Bove from the School of Geography and Sustainable Development at the University of St Andrews is carrying out a research study titled:

A mixed-methods approach to assessing the public acceptability of coastal management interventions against coastal erosion and flooding. The case of Golspie, Sutherland.

While the survey is not directly feeding into or part of the Green Growth Accelerator Programme being run currently by Highland Council we are supporting Marion’s collection of survey data by promoting it in Golpsie and hosting on our site as we feel the final paper may and research may be helpful in gaining insight to further community engagement.

Joan Lawrie

Joan has worked for Thurso Community Development Trust since its inception in 2018. Firstly as a volunteer project officer before taking on the role of Development Officer and now Development Manager. Joan has a BA Child & Youth Studies, a BSc (Hons) Sustainable Development and is currently working on an MSc Net Zero Communities all through University of the Highlands & Islands.

Joan is passionate about the link between climate action projects and how these can help to solve issues around inequalities in our communities. She also constantly likes to think around how we can do differently to be the change.
