Climate Action Fund 2024 Awards

In January we opened our Climate Action Fund and encouraged organisations across the Highlands to apply for funding towards climate action. We were excited reading applications from our members with their future plans, and delighted to be introduced to new organisations and their bold ideas - who are now members of the Hub!

Funding Panel

When our Funding Panel first met, they were blown away to see we had received 46 applications!

Joan, Luci & Alice devised a scoring system, and got to work reviewing each application.

However, our budget couldn’t allow us to fund all 46 projects; but after debating each project, a conclusion was made. We are delighted to say that we were able to fund 31 projects across the Highlands! And for those who didn’t quite secure financial support, we have gotten creative and ensured we could offer our members alternative solutions and our full support for their projects.

If one thing was clear to the Hub after reading all about the inspirational projects, it was that our 2024 Climate Action future is very bright!

Success Story - Grantown’s Green Hearts Workshop

Alice, our Development Officer for Badenoch & Strathspey, was lucky enough to attend our members in Grantown’s Green Heart Workshop which was supported by our Climate Action Fund. Sustainable Strathspey and Fiona’s Wholefoods & Refills collaborated on this brilliant event, and they created a wonderful display for Fiona’s shop!

It was an afternoon filled with crafting hearts to the environment and lovely conversations about the climate, and general chit-chat and crafting tips! Read all about it in Alice’s previous blog.

Mhairi visits Acharacle Community Company

Mhairi, our Lochaber Development Officer visited Aukje at Acharacle Community Company to have a look round and hear their 2024 plans.

We are delighted to say that Acharacle Community Company received funding from the Hub to launch their ‘Spring into Action’ campaign and now they are working to complete their polytunnel and shed so their community garden can thrive in Spring!

What’s next?

Our Climate Action Fund is now closed for 2023-24, but keep an eye for it reopening in 2024-25 if you have been inspired by our Members to pursue Climate Action!
